Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo won the Valencia Moto GP at the Cheste racetrack on Sunday in what was his final race after nine years with the Movistar Yamaha team.

Lorenzo began the race in pole position in almost perfect racing conditions and never looked back as Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi and Andrea Iannone battled it out for the remaining places on the podium, reports Xinhua.

While the battle went on behind him, Lorenzo was able to extend his lead until Marquez moved into the second and worked to cut his lead, although he didn’t have enough time to mount a serious challenge to win the race.

Iannone finished third in what was his last race for Ducati with Valentino Rossi fourth and Marc Vinales fifth.

Johann Zarco won the Moto2 race earlier, while Brad Binder won a close fought duel in Moto.
