Sauber became the first Formula One team to reveal its car for the 2017 season on Monday, as Williams confirmed Paul Di Resta had been retained as its reserve driver.

The C36-Ferrari will be used for Sauber's 25th Formula One campaign and was designed with a "greater emphasis on aerodynamic stability", according to technical director Jorg Zander.

A statement from the team read: "The Sauber C36-Ferrari is a car which, due to the new technical regulations, has been redesigned from scratch. There is not a single part that could be adopted from its C35 predecessor."

Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson took to Twitter to outline his approval for the "seriously good looking" appearance of the new machine, which is predominantly blue and white but features a gold trim to mark the team's anniversary year.

The remaining teams on the 2017 grid will all roll out their cars this week, with Renualt's launch taking place on Tuesday and reigning champions Mercedes following suit 48 hours later.

Williams, meanwhile, announced the retention of Di Resta as their back-up driver on Monday.

Deputy team principal Claire Williams said: "It's great for us to retain someone with Paul's experience in the team. His extensive Formula One knowledge will once again be invaluable, especially with new regulations in place for the 2017 season."
