Achraf set to continue as squash coach

In all probability, Achraf El Karagui, Indian squash team's foreign coach, will remain in the country for the next two years, till 2019.

Squash Rackets Federation of India has written to Sports Authority of India seeking a two-year extension for the 51-year-old Egyptian, whose one-year-contract with SAI comes to an end in July.

“Since coming here, he’s made a difference to the players. Therefore, we are therefore we are seeking a two-year extension. The players are also happy with him,” Cyrus Poncha, National coach, told Sportstar here on Thursday. “He’s shown the Egyptian way of training.”

At the Asian individual championship held here recently, India's top two players, Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal were all praise for the Egyptian coach and pointed out the changes he has brought to their game. With the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games scheduled next year, Achraf’s presence is sure to benefit the the country's men and women players.
