Cricketers, shuttlers to athletes, all took to social media to express their gratitude on India’s 72nd year of independence

Celebrating 71 years of freedom, the sports fraternity took to social media to express themselves. Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar remembered the freedom fighters. He pointed that 'Team India' wouldn't have been formed had the fighters not sacrificed their lives.

Saina Nehwal and her father, Harvir Singh Nehwal, share an electric father-daughter chemistry. The senior Nehwal travels to almost all venues to watch his daughter play.

On Wednesday, the India shuttler put up a photo with her father wearing the tricolour badge.

Track and field athlete Hima Das stated freedom means excelling in all fields. She wants the athletes to come together to raise the standard of sports.

Table tennis wizard Manika Batra also remembered the contribution of the freedom fighters and vouched to do her best to make India proud.

India cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were among the first ones from the current cricket team to wish the Netizens.

Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri said it is a privilege to be free.
