The EMESA team, representing India, put up a creditable show in the long distance International Regatta at Pan Taihu Lake in Wuxi,China, finishing first runner-up.
The team comprised Ananya Siwatch, Sweta, Abhimanyu and Gaurav.
The regatta saw a harbour race in which the team stood second and then three days of long distance races, in which team faced tough competitions from Chinese teams but still maintained its overall second position.

The long distance format was similar to the proposed format for fixed keel boat racing in Olympics 2024 and hence the performance of the Indian team in such format was very encouraging and a source of hope for many such aspiring sailors, according to Alok Kumar of EMESA.
“EMESA facilitated the team with technical support, conducted the pre-event training at Mumbai and provided with the much necessary technical knowledge of sailing in obtaining conditions and Decathlon Sports provided the team with gear and kitting while Nanital Yacht Club helped the team in the participation process,” he said.
