IOA appoints Abhinav Bindra as goodwill ambassador

Bindra said in a statement to the IOA, "I am humbled by your goodwill gesture of making me goodwill ambassador for the forthcoming Rio Olympics. I gladly accept your invitation."

Olympic gold medallist and world champion shooter Abhinav Bindra has agreed to be a goodwill ambassador of the Indian squad for the forthcoming Olympic Games in Rio.

Bindra said in a statement to the IOA, “I am humbled by your goodwill gesture of making me goodwill ambassador for the forthcoming Rio Olympics. I gladly accept your invitation.”

The ace shooter has informed the IOA that he would be available for interaction between June 1 and 15, and thereafter would be travelling overseas for his training before reaching Rio.

Bindra has also expressed a keen desire to write personally to each and every sportsperson in the Indian squad to the Olympics.
