Khelo India Games: Mehakpreet clinches gold in rhythmic gymnastics

Mehakpreet Kaur of Delhi clinched the gold in rhythmic gymnastics, ahead of Bavleen Kaur of Jammu and Kashmir and Priyanka Acharya of Maharashtra, on the penultimate of the Khelo India School Games at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.

In football at the Nehru Stadium, Mizoram and Punjab set up a title clash in the boys section, while Manipur will meet Haryana in the girls final.

In hockey at the National Stadium, Odisha beat Uttar Pradesh in the tie-break to meet Punjab in the boys final. The girls final will be between Jharkhand and Haryana.

Haryana followed with 23-17-20, but Delhi had more medals at 77, but one gold less than Haryana for a tally of 22-24-31. Karnataka (15-11-15), Uttar Pradesh (9-18-20), Manipur (9-4-3), Tamil Nadu (6-11-10), Punjab (6-2-14), Kerala (5-10-8) and West Bengal (5-4-5) followed in that order for the top-10 on the penultimate day, from among 27 teams that managed to get on to the podium.
