NADA hands four-year suspension to seven athletes

Seven athletes have been handed four-year suspensions by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) Disciplinary Panel for various doping violations.

The ineligible athletes are Kulwinder Singh and Shamsher Singh (all kabaddi), Murali Mohanti (powerlifting), Tahamina Khatun and Mahesh Kale (all athletics), A. Krishna Moorthy and V. Santosh (all weightlifting), according to a NADA statement on Thursday.

Five others have been placed under provisional suspension for anti-doping rule violations. They are Asian champion woman shot putter Manpreet Kaur, Jagtar Singh, D. Sreekanth, Rohit and Ashish Lathwal.

Manpreet and Jagtar tested positive at the Federation Cup athletics meet in Patiala, while Sreekanth returned a positive result at the third Indian Grand Prix in Delhi. Rohit and Ashish’s positive tests came in Federation Cup National junior athletics meet in Lucknow earlier this year.
