Haryana girl Pinki upset Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and two-time defending champion Navjot Kaur 9-2 in the final to clinch the women’s 69kg gold medal on the second day of the National wrestling championship at the Nandini Nagar College Sports Complex here on Monday.
Railways wrestler Navjot took an early lead by grabbing two points through a fine counter-attack but Pinki bounced back for a spectacular takedown following a kick on her opponent’s leg.
Navjot hurt her neck in the process but continued to fight. However, she struggled to give her best as Pinki widened her lead.
