Pune to host India’s maiden sports lit fest

The first of its kind, Pune will host a two-day sport-themed literary festival — SporTale on February 21 and 22. It will feature sports stars, editors, writers and authors.

The first of its kind, Pune will host a two-day sport-themed literary festival — SporTale on February 21 and 22. It will feature sports stars, editors, writers and authors. There will be 38 luminaries from the field of sports, media, cinema, books and photography.

Sharing the inside stories of their journeys will be 15 sports stars, nine sports journalists, five novelists and four cine stars. The event will also see three advertising gurus, who have been part of the sporting world. Photographers who captured the someof the iconic sporting moments will also join in.

ESPN Cricinfo chief Sambit Bal, former managing editor of Yahoo India, Prem Panicker, Sportstar editor Ayon Sengupta will deliberate on the subject with ESPN Cricinfo senior editor Gaurav Kalra.

Virat Kohli will share the stage with Vijay Lokapally, the senior cricketer writer with The Hindu and author of the Indian captain’s cricketing journey ‘Driven’.

Dipa Karmakar along with her coach Bishweshwar Nandi will also be present to talk about an expedition from a remote town to conquer the world and etch India’s impression on global gymnastics.

The event will be organised by InsideSport.
