India’s Rampal Chahar posted his personal best as he finished an impressive sixth in the men’s high jump T-47 final at the Rio Paralympics on Saturday.
Roderick Townsend Roberts of United States secured gold with a Paralympic record jump of 2.09 metres, followed by China’s Hongjie Chen, who won silver with a jump of 1.99 metres, with Aaron Chatman of Australia securing bronze.
Chahar’s effort was recorded at 1.93 metres, but he narrowly missed a bronze medal, falling short by 0.6 metres.
At the Games so far, India has bagged four medals with two golds – including one for Mariyappan Thangavelu in the men's high jump T-42 – one silver and a bronze.
