SAG roundup: India wins another gold in cycling

India picked up another cycling gold and sliver when Lidiyamol Sunny and Manorama Devi Tongbram cornered the top two positions in the women’s 40 km criterium here on Sunday.

India picked up another cycling gold and sliver when Lidiyamol Sunny and Manorama Devi Tongbram cornered the top two positions in the women’s 40km criterium here on Sunday. Sri Lanka did well in the men’s 60 km criterium where Jeevan Manjula Silva and Naveen Ruchira Appuhamy won the gold and the silver. India’s Pankaj Kumar finished a distant third to win the bronze.

Cycling – Men’s 60 km criterium: Jeevan Manjula Silva (Sri) 34 points; 2. Naveen Ruchira Appuhamy (Sri) 24; 3. Pankaj Kumar (Ind) 21.

Women’s 40 km criterium: 1. Lidiyamol Sunny (Ind) 30; 2. Manorama Devi Tongbram (Ind) 26; 3. Sudarika Priyadarshani Arachchige (Sri) 9.

Hockey – Women: India 24 (Soundarya Yendala - 4, Poonam Barla - 4, Rani - 3, Jaspreet Kaur - 3, Neha Goyal - 3, Deepika - 3, Gurjit Kaur - 2, Preeti Dubey - 2) bt Nepal 0.

Kho-Kho (round-robin) – Men: India bt Nepal 23-21; India bt Sri Lanka 19-17,

Women: India bt Sri Lanka 16-14; India 15 bt Nepal 15-12; India bt Pakistan 16-14.

Tennis – Men’s doubles, 1st round: Ramkumar Ramanathan & Vijay Sundar Prasanth (Ind) bt Dipu Lal & Mohammad Anwar Hossain (Ban) 6-0, 6-2.

Volleyball – Women (group-A): India bt Pakistan 25-5, 25-7, 25-6.
