SAG volleyball: Indian women make a winning start

The Indian women pounded the hapless Maldives 25-9, 25-9, 25-10 to stamp their authority in the competition.

The Indian women made a fine start to their campaign in volleyball defeating Maldives 3-0 in the group league stage of the tournament. The Indian women pounded the hapless Maldives 25-9, 25-9, 25-10 to stamp their authority in the competition. In the other matches Sri Lanka downed Nepal.

In the men’s category Pakistan beat Maldives while Sri Lanka downed Nepal. Bangladesh got the better of Afghanistan in a close match.

The results:

Men: Sri Lanka bt Nepal 25-10, 25-15, 25-10; Pakistan bt Maldives 25-22, 25-14, 25-20, Bangladesh bt Afghanistan 25-12, 20-25, 21-15, 31-19, 15-13.

Women: India bt Maldives 25-9, 25-9, 25-10; Sri Lanka bt Nepal 25-19, 25-14, 28-26.
