Four Sports Authority of India (SAI) officials, including the director, were arrested during a raid at the agency’s Lodhi Road office in New Delhi on Thursday.
According to reports, a CBI team reached the SAI headquarters around 5 pm.
Two more individuals were arrested in the course of the operation.
There were complaints against some officials for taking bribes while on duty. The CBI took SAI Director S.K. Sharma in custody along with a host of other office-bearers.
It is learnt that they were sitting on pending bills of Rs 19 lakh and demanding a cut for clearing them.
Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore revealed that the information was passed on to the CBI by the sports ministry.
