CRICKET

South Africa took an unassailable 2-0 in the three-Test series against India, by winning the second Test in Centurion by 135 runs. This is now Virat Kohli's first-ever series defeat in any format as India captain. ( REPORT )

England sealed the ODI series by winning the first three ODIs against Australia, winning each of them in convincing fashion too. This has been an emphatic response, albeit under a different captain and with a largely different set of players, after losing the Ashes 4-0. ( Third ODI report )

India beat arch-rival Pakistan and lifted the Blind Cricket World Cup for the second time. ( Report )

Virat Kohli, courtesy his fighting 153 in the first innings of the second Test, became just the second Indian batsman to reach the 900-point mark in the ICC rankings for batsmen. ( FULL STORY )

Elsewhere, New Zealand completed an ODI series whitewash against Pakistan and Zimbabwe secured another win in an ODI against Sri Lanka in the ongoing tri-nation series against Bangladesh.

FOOTBALL

The football news that dominated the headlines was mainly transfer related, with Alexis Sanchez's reported move to Manchester United becoming more concrete and moving closer to completion ( REPORT ).

Borussia Dortmund confirmed receiving a bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was dropped from its matchday squads against Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg .

Barcelona brought a long-standing winless run at the Estadio Anoeta by beating Real Sociedad 4-2 in LaLiga, though it lost the first-leg of the Copa del Rey tie against Espanyol.

Real Madrid bounced back from a difficult week by putting together back to back wins in the Copa del Rey and league, against Leganes and Deportivo La Coruna respectively.

Another European giant Bayern Munich continued its winning streak with a 4-2 win against Weder Bremen. The Bavarian giant also secured a pre-contract agreement with Schalke's Leon Goretzka, who will officially become its player on July 1. ( Full story )

Arsenal , Chelsea , Manchester City , and Manchester United secured victories on matchweek 24 of the ongoing Premier League season, with Tottenham Hotspur only managing a draw against Southampton.

The week gone by was a goal-laden one in the Indian Super League, with as many as 22 goals being scored in six matches, FC Goa, FC Pune City Jamshedpur FC, North East United FC, and Bengaluru FC the victors which outscored their opposition. ATHLETICS

Solomon Deksisa of Ethiopia won the men's title at the Mumbai Marathon 2018, clocking 2h 9m 34s and finishing 26 seconds ahead of compatriot Shumet Akalnaw. ( REPORT )

HOCKEY
