International cricket

India beat Pakistan twice in the week, the second helping nudge it closer to a place in the final. (REPORT)

Bangladesh won the other Super Four match on Sunday, beating Afghanistan by three runs to remain alive in the tournament. (REPORT)

Sri Lanka and Hong Kong were eliminated from the tournament in the group stage, while Afghanistan, too, won its two Group B matches to qualify for the Super Four. In its first Super Four match, it ran Pakistan close and lost by three wickets with three balls to spare.

Ravindra Jadeja was one of three players who were added to India’s Asia Cup squad after Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel were released with different injuries. Jadeja recorded four for 29 in his comeback match and regarded this as a comeback “he will always remember”. (REPORT)

Bangladesh added Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes to the Asia Cup squad after Tamim Iqbal was forced to return home with a fractured left wrist. (REPORT)

Olly Stone, Rory Burns and Joe Denly were named in the England Test squad for a three-Test series against Sri Lanka in November this year. (REPORT)

India women’s cricket team won the first and third T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match series, the second of which was a washout. (REPORT)

Tim Paine told Sportstar ahead of his team’s two-Test series against Pakistan in the UAE, that Australia will play but fair after a ball-tampering scandal in March tarnished the image of Australian cricket.
