CRICKET

India's squad for the West Indies tour was announced on Sunday. Rishabh Pant was selected across all three formats, while seamer Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the limited overs leg of the tour. All-rounder Hardik Pandya is rested for the whole tour. ( REPORT )

In the men’s category, India had a forgettable outing with country’s top-ranked Atanu Das making a second round exit, losing to Bae Jaehyeon of Korea 4-6. Hima Das  clocked a season-best 52.09s as she won the women’s 400m gold (her fifth in three weeks) in the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix on Saturday evening. Hima has been running a series of 200m in the last few weeks and this was her first 400m after she retired midway through quartermile heats at the Asian championships in Doha in April. ( REPORT )

Sindhu finishes runner-up at Indonesia Open

P.V. Sindhu missed out on her first title of the year and the first Super 1000 title of her career after she was beaten in straight games by Japan’s  Akane Yamaguchi  in the final of Indonesia Open. Sindhu lost the match 21-15, 21-16 in less than an hour. Despite the loss, it was a season’s best performance for P.V.
