Sakshi Malik, the 22-year-old from Rohtak, Haryana, won India's first medal at the Rio Games as she beat Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova to win bronze in the women's 58 kg freestyle wrestling.

And her feat didn't go unnoticed as the Indian Tweeple exploded in delight.

Sports Minister Vijay Goel was also one of the many thrilled for Malik's outstanding achievement. He tweeted with a picture of Malik in her bout, saying "Congratulations to Sakshi Malik!!!.Wins First #Olympics #Bronze Medal for #IND in #Rio2016 #Kudos #proud #wrestling."
