Gaurav Rana’s misfire cost him a medal.

Gaurav Rana stumbled to the fourth place following a shot of 8.0 in junior men’s air pistol in the 26th Meeting of Shooting Hopes international competition in Plzen, Czech Republic, on Thursday.

After leading the field till the 15th shot, Rana’s misfire cost him a medal, in an interesting final in which three other Indians, Anmol, Gurmeet Singh and Saurabh Chaudhary also went without a medal.

There was the consolation of two team medals, as India-B consisting Anmol, Gurmeet and Arjun Das won the silver, one point behind Russia.

The India-A team of Saurabh Chaudhary, Gaurav Rana and Hemendra Kushwah settled for the bronze, nine points behind the second string team.

In the junior men’s 50-metre rifle prone event, the Indian shooters failed to get anywhere close to a medal both in the individual and team competitions.
