The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has officially announced that New Delhi would host the rifle and pistol World Cup in 2019, which would offer Olympic quota places for Tokyo Games 2020, following its Administrative and Executive Committee meetings in the capital over the last two days.

The other three rifle and pistol World Cups in 2019 would be held in Munich, Beijing and Rio de Janeiro. The shotgun World Cups will be held in Changwon, Lahti, Al Ain and Acapulco.

While deciding that the World Cup Final in shotgun would be held in Al Ain, UAE, in 2018, the committee has kept pending, the decision to allot the rifle and pistol World Cup Final for 2018.

The ISSF also approved the recommendations of its ad hoc committee for the introduction of three mixed doubles events in air rifle, air pistol and trap, to achieve gender neutrality as suggested by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

“We believe this is a fundamental step forward for our beloved sport,” the ISSF president, Olegario Vazquez Rana, was quoted as saying by the ISSF.

“We want to retain 15 Olympic events, preserve equality in our three disciplines, rifle, pistol and shotgun, and offer all female and male athletes the same opportunities. Shooting is one of the oldest and most universal sports of the world, inclusion is part of our DNA,” Rana said.
