Yashaswini Singh Deswal strikes air pistol gold in Junior World Championship

Youth Olympics finalist Yashaswini Singh Deswal asserted her class by winning the junior women’s air pistol gold by equalling the world record in the Junior World Shooting Championship.

Youth Olympics finalist Yashaswini Singh Deswal asserted her class by winning the junior women’s air pistol gold by equalling the world record in the Junior World Shooting Championship in Suhl, Germany on
Sunday.

The 20-year-old Chandigarh girl, Yashaswini qualified on top with a score of 585, and equalled the world record of 235.9 in the 24-shot final to beat Kim Woori of Korea by 4.1 points for the gold.

It was the second gold for india after the 25-metre standard pistol gold in the junior men’s event on the opening day by Anish Bhanwala.

Saurabh Chaudhary missed a medal by 0.7 point but the Indian junior men’s air pistol team clinched the bronze behind Russia and Korea in the Junior World Shooting Championship in Suhl, Germany, on Sunday.

Saurabh shot 198.0 in the final and lost the bronze to Paolo Monna of Italy, after having shot the second best score in the qualification phase with 578.

Along with Anmol (571) who missed the final by three points, and Arjun Singh Cheema (569), Saurabh was able to get the team bronze, two points behind Korea, with a total of 1718.
