Some of the leading shooters of the country are expected to compete in the 17th Kumar Surendra Singh memorial shooting championship to be staged at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, from July 27 to August 1.

The events will be held in rifle and pistol sections for men and women. With the Commonwealth Championship in Australia approaching, and with two more sets of national selection trials scheduled after this championship, the shooters will be trying to find the groove.

With the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and the World Championship scheduled for next year, it will be important for the shooters to lay the foundation for selection from now on, even as some try to preserve their best for the World Cup Finals to be staged at the same venue later in the season.

The first day’s programme will have free pistol, men’s air rifle and women’s sports pistol. With a lot of entries for air rifle, the final will be held the following day. It will be the same situation with men’s air pistol, scheduled for July 31 and August 1. All other events are scheduled to have the final the same day.
