National women’s skeet champion Maheshwari Chauhan recovered her composure to shoot a total of 107 out of 125 and placed 13th in the qualifying of Qatar Open shotgun championship in Doha on Saturday.

After a topsy turvy first day when she had rounds of 21, 25 and 16. Maheshwari retained equanimity to shoot rounds of 21 and 24 on the second day. She missed the final by six points.

It was a different story for the men’s national champion Angad Vir Singh Bajwa.

Angad did not complete the competition and skipped the fourth and fifth rounds after a below par 17 in the third round. Angad had shot 24 each in the first two rounds.

"I had high fever and food poisoning, the day before the competition. Doctor at the range did not let me shoot. But, I shot the first day, in adverse conditions. Could not keep up as my stomach was really in serious trouble. Had to go to the hospital today and have changed my ticket for quick return back home to consult the doctors," said Angad.
