National shooting selection trials: Manish sizzles in 10m air pistol

Manish beat the seasoned Deepak Sharma by 0.4 points for the top spot in the men’s event.

Manish Narwal impressed by topping both the men’s and junior men’s events in 10m air pistol in the sixth National shooting selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Wednesday.

Manish beat the seasoned Deepak Sharma by 0.4 points for the top spot in the men’s event, in which Olympians Jitu Rai (574) and Prakash Nanjappa (573) were placed 31st and 33rd respectively, in a strong field of 240 shooters.

Manish, who beat qualification topper Tejas Prakash Dhere by one point to top the junior section, was placed seventh in the youth men’s event, in which Monu Kumar won the shoot-off to top the event, after being tied on 241.1 with Vijayveer Sidhu.

Former world champion Tejaswini Sawant topped women’s rifle prone with a score of 620.3.

Tejas Prakash Dhere 239.9 (581), 3. Anmol Jain 219.5 (579). Youth men: 1. Monu Kumar 241.1 (577), 2. Vijayveer Sidhu 241.1 (572), 3. Arjun Singh Cheema 220.3 (573).
