Birendeep Sodhi and Zoravar Singh Sandhu led with 49 after identical scores of 25, 24 in the first two rounds of men’s trap, in a strong field of 184 shooters, in the 60th National Shotgun Championship at the JDA Range on Thursday.
Olympians, former World Champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Mansher Singh and double trap specialist Mohd. Asab shot 47, with identical rounds of 23 and 24. Junior Manavaditya Singh Rathore had rounds of 23 and 25 and was in the second spot along with Ajay Singh Rathore who had rounds of 24 and 24.
The young Olympian Kynan Chenai and Prithviraj Tondaiman, who had a good outing in the Asian shotgun championship recently in Abu Dhabi had scores of 46.
Manavaditya Singh Rathore led the juniors with 47, two points ahead of Jangsher Singh Virk, in a field of 54 shooters.
The trap competition will continue for the next two days and the knock-out phase will be staged on Saturday.
