Shooting World Cup: Heena Sidhu unimpressive

The World record holder in 10-metre air pistol, Heena was placed 42nd in women’s 25-metre sports pistol with scores of 283 (precision stage) and 285 ( rapid fire).

Heena Sidhu shot 568 and was placed 42nd in women’s 25-metre sports pistol in the shooting World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

The World record holder in 10-metre air pistol, Heena had 283 in the precision stage and 285 in the rapid fire section in the event, in which the specialists like Rahi Sarnobat, Anisa Sayyed and Annu Raj Singh did not make the team.

Meanwhile, India’s Gagan Narang and Chain Singh will be vying for a spot in the finals of the men’s 50m Rifle Prone event after coming through unscathed in the elimination rounds.

Gagan, an Olympic bronze medallist, posted a score of 620 in his elimination round to finish 11th while Chain shot 622.5 to be placed sixth.Day seven will see the qualification and final rounds of the event.

Gagan and Chain were among the 56 contestants out of 97 who made it through to the qualification round. Sanjeev Rajput was not that lucky however, shooting a score of 617.3 in his elimination round to end in 31st position.
