Shotgun World C’ship: Kynan Chenai begins well in men’s trap

Olympian Kynan Chenai started well with rounds of 25 and 24 in men’s trap in the Shotgun World Championship in Moscow on Friday.

With 49 out of 50, Kynan was on par with 11 others, while three led with 50, in a strong field of 147 shooters. Zoravar Singh Sandhu (47) and Briendeep Sodhi (46) followed Kynan at a distance. Among junior men, Lakshay was the best with rounds of 25 and 22, for a total of 47. Three led on 49, while Akash Saharan (46) and Manavaditya Rathore (43) followed down the order in a field of 49 shooters.

With the competition spread over three days, owing to an overwhelming number of entries, the shooters will have to sustain their good work for a longer time, for three more rounds followed by the final for the top six.

In the women’s section, Rajeshwari Kumar had steady rounds of 23 and 22. Shreyasi Singh had two rounds of 21, while Seema Tomar had started with a round of 21.

In the junior women’s section, Soumya Gupta had done well to shoot 45 out of 50, with rounds of 21 and 24. Nivetha Nenthirasigamani (39) and Manisha Keer (39) were not at their best.
