India’s Abhay Singh finished runner-up at the UCT Open, falling to first seed Martin Svec of the Czech Republic in the final. Abhay, the World No. 115 and the second seed in this PSA world series event, lost 11-7, 11-5, 12-14, 12-10 in a contest that lasted about an hour.

After having lost the first two games without much ado, Abhay bounced back in the third game, but it proved too little too late to salvage a comprehensive comeback for what would have been his maiden PSA world series title.

Svec, also on the pursuit of his maiden title, gained it at the end of a close rear half of the contest.
