Joshna Chinappa's quarterfinal exit ended India's presence at the Carol Weymuller Open, a part of PSA world tour programme, in New York.

Joshna, seeded four, had pipped Egyptian qualifier Salma Hany Ibrahim in the first round but she could not go past Sarah Jane-Perry of England. Sarah, seeded three places lower than her opponent, cruised to a 11-6, 11-6, 11-3 win.
