India’s Saurav Ghosal has moved into the semifinals of the Montreal Open, a PSA world tour event, with a win over Arturo Salazar of Mexico on Wednesday. Ghosal won 11-8, 9-11,9-11, 11-4, 15-13.
The top seeded Indian, who is using the tournament as a warm-up for the Asian Championship due in Chennai next month, trailed for a while in a tough match against Salazar. Salazar was impressive with his firepower around the court. However, Ghosal showed resilience to eventually tire out his opponent and bounce back into the contest.
Ghosal will next face third seed Omar Adel Meguid of Egypt. He has a 2-1 advantage on paper against the Egyptian.
