Since opting out of his deal with the 49ers this offseason, Kaepernick remains unsigned but that doesn't mean he's not making the big bucks.

Since opting out of his deal with the 49ers this off-season, Colin Kaepernick remains unsigned, but that doesn't mean he's not making the big bucks.

Kaepernick has received a book deal worth $1 million from Random House affiliate One World, according to New York Post 's Page Six and later confirmed byProFootballTalk.

Specific details of the book remain unclear.

Although he is still without an NFL job, Kaepernick has been busy this year donating time and money to charities and fighting for his right to keep playing as numerous quarterbacks with inferior experience, stats and skill sets have found their way onto NFL rosters.

Kaepernick, who completed 1,011 of 1,692 passes for 12,271 yards and 72 touchdowns with 30 interceptions over six seasons with the 49ers, recently filed a collusion grievance against NFL owners saying they collectively blackballed him to keep him out of the league for his stance on social issues.

Kaepernick became a controversial figure last year when he became the first player to refuse to stand for the national anthem as a sign of protest against what he called racial injustice in the U.S. Many other players have since followed his lead, leading to fan protests and concern among owners and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell that the players' actions are hurting TV ratings and attendance.

Several team owners have expressed concerns that signing Kaepernick would create distractions and upset fans. Earlier this year, Giants owner John Mara told TheMMQB   that he'd received letters from fans saying they'd never attend another game if the team signed Kaepernick, or if other players refused to stand for the anthem.
