India’s former captain Sourav Ganguly has praised M. S. Dhoni, his successor, for his gesture in the former’s farewell Test, in 2008. Ganguly was asked by Dhoni to lead for the entire final day against Australia in Nagpur in 2008.

Ganguly scored 85 and a duck in the Test; India defeated Australia by 172 runs to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Recalling the incident in an upcoming television show, ‘Taste match’, Ganguly said, “He (Dhoni) just called me and said, so now you're going to be the captain for the day!”

Alongside former India batsman Sandeep Patil, Ganguly discussed a few memories and opinions on his own career. He spoke about how he started out, meeting his cricketing idols Ken Barrington and Tony Greig, his improvement as a batsman over the years, and his temperament on and off the field.
