India's sporting fraternity on Twitter expressed their good wishes on the occasion of Diwali.

Sachin Tendulkar was one of a number of Indian sportsmen who chose to dedicate the occasion of Diwali to India's soldiers.

India's sporting fraternity took to Twitter to celebrate Diwali and spread wishes on the auspicious occasion.

A few of India's sportsmen, including Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj chose the occasion to salute India's armed forces for their efforts to protect the country.

Tendulkar posted: "Snow-capped mountains, blazing deserts, dense forests & a lot more couldn't stop them. Let us send our love & #Sandesh2Soldiers this Diwali."

Kaif, the former India batsman, wrote: "This Diwali,pls light a lamp for our soldiers &Martyrs. Offer them a seat while in a bus or train. #Sandesh2Soldiers.

V.V.S. Laxman, the former India middle-order batsman, wished a 'Happy Dhanteras '. He wrote: "Wish you and your dear ones a very Happy Dhanteras ."

India's Kabaddi captain, who lifted the World Cup won by the home team in Ahmedabad only last week, also wished a 'Happy Dhanteras '. He wrote: "Happy Dhanteras to all! May Indian Athletes get more and more Gold to our country every year. #GoforGold #Happydhanteras"

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh chose the occasion to salute India's jawans . He wrote: "Saluting our jawans & their courage! My #Sandesh2Soldiers PM @narendramodi @bcci #HappyDiwali"

India's fast bowler Umesh Yadav wished a 'Happy Dhanteras ' too. He posted: "May this Dhanteras Light up new dreams,fresh hopes, undiscovered avenues.⁰Happy Dhanteras to you all and your family."

India's No. 1 badminton player Saina Nehwal posted a video on Twitter, wishing everyone a 'Happy Diwali'.
