Rohit Sharma to throw ‘first pitch’ for baseball club

India’s Rohit Sharma is set to become the first Indian cricketer to throw the ceremonial “first pitch” for a baseball club.

Major League Baseball club Seattle Mariners invited the batsman to perform the ritual on Sunday, June 03, at Safeco Field, its home ground, at 12:30 pm Pacific Standard Time (June 04, 0100 IST) before its contest against Tampa Bay Rays, according to a communique.

The “first pitch” is a ritual performed by a ‘guest of honour’ to mark the start of a baseball contest.

Rohit is on a tour of the U.S. as part of “Desh-Legends of Cricket Series.”
