Stars keep it sunny on a rainy day

"With all this rain @rolandgarros, I'm gonna go throw some seed on Chatrier and hope it grows by Tuesday," tweeted Aussie star Sam Groth.

When many in the players' lounge were comparing the chilly rainy setting in Paris on the opening day of French Open to the British weather, Sam Groth took it one step further.

With the typical Aussie wit, he was scheming to transform the Philippe-Chatrier court into very British grass court like Wimbledon. "With all this rain @rolandgarros, I'm gonna go throw some seed on Chatrier and hope it grows by Tuesday," he tweeted.

With the Aussie slotted to play the 'King of Clay' Rafael Nadal on Tuesday, we must agree that was one brilliant thought 'germinating' in his mind. Even as heavy rains halted play for close to three hours at the Roland Garros, the players found ways to keep themselves occupied.

After taking some time exploring the cake decorated with edible tennis balls and racquet, Novak endearingly imitated his son’s expression when presented with a special towel. It reminded one of his Sharapova-imitating antics on court. Rain was surely not going to dampen his spirits on such a special day.

Indian tennis legend Leander Paes meanwhile decided to cook up a storm. He posted a picture of himself whipping up a high-carb pasta dish after a hard day’s training. “Long hard days on the clay of #RG16 makes you load up on the carbs. Home cooking is the most fun,” he wrote on Twitter.

Another player who made full use of the rain break was Spaniard Feliciano Lopez. He sought the >help of a hairdresser at Roland-Garros to tame his short wavy locks, clearly enjoying the hospitality that the organisers had to offer.

Hot-headed Nick Kyrgios too had his moments of fun with fans by posing for photographs with heads down but that came after he was given a warning for screaming at a ball boy during the match on Court One.

The rainy opening day of French Open was nothing like the British weather. It was anything but dull and gloomy.
