7 The number of consecutive 50-plus scores by a batsman in Tests played in India. In the second innings at Visakhapatnam, Rohit Sharma became the first batsman in Test cricket to make seven 50-plus scores on Indian soil. Before him, three other batsmen had managed to make six 50s in a row. Sharma’s sequence began in the second innings of the Kolkata Test match against New Zealand in October 2016.

200 The number Test wickets claimed by Ravindra Jadeja in his career during the Visakhapatnam Test match against South Africa. He became the 75th bowler to achieve this landmark in Test cricket. He is also the 10th Indian bowler to take 200 wickets in Tests. As of date, only 13 left-arm bowlers have managed to claim 200 or more Test wickets, and among these 13 bowlers, Jadeja is the quickest to reach the landmark in terms of number of Test matches.

He became the 25th bowler and the fourth Indian to achieve this landmark in Test cricket. By doing so in his 66th Test match, Ashwin equalled the record of Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan to be the joint quickest to reach the landmark in terms of number of Test matches.

Steven Smith top-scored in the first six innings he batted in the recent Ashes, which is a record for a series. However, the record for top-scoring in the most consecutive Test innings is held by West Indian Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who did so in seven consecutive innings between November 2006 and December 2007.

How often has Pakistan been whitewashed in a Test series?

Pakistan has been whitewashed 0-3 on eight occasions in Test history, all of which came in away series. These were in Australia in 1972-73, 1999-2000, 2004-05, 2009-10 and 2016-17, against Australia in Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates in 2002-03, and in South Africa in 2012-13 and 2018-19.

What is the highest score by a batsman who has been stumped in Test cricket?

– Alok Mitra, Hooghly.

West Indian Seymour Nurse, incidentally appearing in his final Test match, made 258 before he was stumped by New Zealander Barry Milburn off the bowling of left-arm slow bowler Bryan Yuile at Christchurch in March 1969.
