Promising Indian diver Tanuka found dead

Bengal diver Tanuka Dhara, who won a silver medal in the 1m springboard event at the 70th National Aquatics last September, was found dead in her flat in Mumbai on Thursday morning.

Bengal diver Tanuka Dhara, who won a silver medal in the 1m springboard event at the 70th National Aquatics last September, was found dead in her flat in Mumbai on Thursday morning.

According to a Bengali daily, foulplay is suspected and the police have sent the body for an autopsy. The Bengal swimming federation has also demanded a thorough investigation.

Tanuka has won many accolades at the national level. The Western Railways employee won bronze at the 35th National Games in Thiruvananthapuram in 2015.

Tanuka started her career as a gymnast but switched to swimming and diving after suffering a leg injury.
