The Committee of Administrators running the affairs of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has ruled in favour of Tamil Nadu Table Tennis Association (TNTTA) while rejecting the claims of Tamizhaga Table Tennis Association (TTTA).

After listening to both the parties through video conferencing and analysing the documents submitted by TNTTA & TTTA, COA in a release said: “….We are left with no other alternative but to conclude that as of today TNTTA is the only association which is legally recognised by TTFI.”

COA further said TTTA has no authority at all regarding TT in the State. The order read: “No formal order of disaffiliation of TTTA is required to be passed after the disposal of the matter by the Supreme Court. The admissions contained in the clarification application filed by TTFI before the Supreme Court and the order dated 27-01–2020 passed thereon also support the position that TTTA had no authority at all regarding TT in TN.”

COA blamed the erstwhile TTFI for giving affiliation to TTTA. “This affiliation of a brand new organisation was unjustified and without any basis. In any case, this affiliation cannot continue after the final order passed by the Supreme Court as the interim stay granted by the Supreme Court stands vacated. Thereby by the order of Madras High Court dated 02-04-2019 operationalised,” COA order said.

The order also said: “For reasons best known to itself, the Executive body of TTFI persisted with double entries in tournaments from TN by permitting a parallel body to send entries of players which was not only completely illegal in violation of Memorandum and bye laws of TTFI, but also in violation of the order of Courts.”

TTTA, COA said, cannot be held to be or treated as an affiliated body of TTFI. Accordingly, the name of TTTA shall be removed from the list of affiliated units of TTFI.
