Rio Olympians Achantha Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra and Mouma Das will participate in the 11Even Sports National ranking (SZ) table tennis championships 2016 at the Rajiv Gandhi-Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) Indoor Stadium, Visakhapatnam from October 20 to 25. Carrying a prize money of Rs. 6 lakhs, this is the fourth such event of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) series after the zonals at Chandigarh (north), Indore (central) and Rajkot (west).

Competitions will be held in the following categories: men, women, youth, junior sub junior, cadet boys and girls in singles. Six events, viz; the men and women’s singles, youth and juniors will be held on the first four days and the sub-junior and cadet events on the last two days. The championships has 731 players and more than 1100 entries across the above 10 events.

Other leading players of the country viz; G Sathiyan, Sanil Shetty, Harmeet Desai, Jubin Kumar in men and Sutirtha Mukherjee and Madhurika Patkar in women will be in the fray for the six-day championships.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh have promised funding for the event, the first of its kind in the newly formed State. The Vishakapatnam Port Trust has allotted its indoor stadium for the entire event.

M/s STAG International, Meerut will be the equipment sponsor and 11EVEN Sports Pvt Ltd, the title sponsor. The championships will be played on 15 STAG 1000 DX Tables and will use STAG Balls and synthetic flooring. Competition Manager N. Ganeshan and C.L. Thade, Chief Referee, will be assisted by about 45 Blue Badge, international and national umpires.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, will inaugurate the meet on Thursday at 11 A.M.
