India TT team coach hunt likely to end soon

TTFI secretary M. P. Singh said names of Dejan Papic of Canada and Vladimir Meovic of Serbia have been sent to SAI.

The senior National Indian table tennis team is likely to have a foreign coach soon. The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), on Wednesday, sent two names to Sports Authority of India (SAI) for consideration.

TTFI secretary, M. P. Singh, told Sportstar Dejan Papic of Canada and Vladimir Meovic of Serbia have been shortlisted for the position.

It is reliably learnt that Papic would get the nod as the other contender from Serbia, now coaching in Germany, is 80 years old.

Reacting to the news, India's top paddler G. Sathiyan welcomed the development. "Looking forward to working with whoever is the new coach and hope we can keep up the momentum. Hope everything is finalised as soon as possible," he said.
