Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni set up a quarterfinal clash against each other in contrasting style in the $50,000 men’s Challenger tennis tournament in Zhuahi, China, on Thursday.

Top seed Yuki blew away the challenge from Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei 6-3, 6-1, whereas fifth seed Saketh Myneni battled past Luke Saville of Australia 7-6(4), 7-6(4).

The 23-year-old Yuki, who beat the 28-year-old Saketh on way to the national title a few years ago and more recently in the PSPB inter-unit tournament in Delhi last week, has a 1-0 record against him in the professional circuit.

In the doubles, however, Yuki and Saketh went down fighting 11-13 in the super tie-break to third seeds Gong Mao-Xin of China and Chu-Huan Yi of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals.

In the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures in Japan, seventh seed Karunuday Singh won two back to back matches in about two hours of playing time in all against two local wild card entrants, to make the quarterfinals. Sidharth Rawat, however, was beaten in the pre-quarterfinals by Issei Okamura of Japan in straight sets.
