Yuki Bhambri got past third seed Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia for a berth in the quarterfinals of the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Canada.

Yuki led 7-6(1), 3-1 when the Kavcic retired. He was scheduled to play Alexander Sarkissian of U.S. in the quarterfinals.

In the doubles quarterfinals, however, Yuki in partnership with Yasutaka Uchiyama of Japan lost in straight sets. Saketh Myneni lost to Lee Duckhee of Korea in straight sets in the pre-quarterfinnals of the $125,000 Challenger in Astana. He collected nine ATP points and $2150.

Ankita Raina continued with her good run and beat third seed Dejana Radanovic of Serbia 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 in two hours and 15 minutes. Ankita
broke the Serbian’s serve eight times in the match and saved 13 of 20 breakpoints that she faced. It was a revenge victory for Ankita as she
had lost to the Serb in straight sets in their only previous meeting in 2015 in Belgium.
