US Open: Bopanna out of men's doubles; Paes-Raja in second round

Paes-Raja defeated Tipsarevic-Troicki but Bopanna and his partner Cuevas lost to Fognini and Bolelli.

Rohan Bopanna and partner Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay crashed out of the men's doubles second round with a 7-5, 4-6, 4-6 loss to Italian duo of Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli at the U.S. Open on Friday.

Meanwhile, Leander Paes and Purav Raja began their new partnership on a winning note. Playing their first-round match on Friday, the Indian pair had an easy 6-1, 6-3 win over Serbia's  Janko Tipsarević and Viktor Troicki.

Sania Mirza, who began her mixed doubles campaign with Ivan Dodig, lost to Jelena Ostapenko and Fabrice Martin 7-5, 3-6, 6-10.

Bopanna will play the first of his mixed doubles match with Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Sania will look to move on to the next round of the women’s doubles with her partner Peng Shuai from China.

Divij Sharan who was paired up with No. 66 Andre Begemann lost 4-6, 4-6 to Spaniards Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez.
