Bopanna-Mergea advance to quarters of Monte Carlo

Rohan Bopanna of India and his doubles partner Florin Mergea defeated Robert Lindstedt and Alexander Peya 7-5, 7-5 to progress through to the quarterfinals of Monte Carlo Masters.

Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea advanced to the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters after getting the better of Robert Lindstedt and Alexander Peya in straight sets here.

The sixth seeded Indian-Romanian combination broke serve four times and fired four aces to beat their opponents 7-5, 7-5 during the round of 16 match that lasted 87 minutes.

Bopanna and Mergea will next take on fourth seeded pair of Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares. In the opening round of the tournament earlier, Bopanna and Mergea had got a bye.
