Ramkumar Ramanathan in partnership with Andrei Vasilevski of Belarus was beaten 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 in the doubles final of the €106,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The Indo-Belarusian pair missed two match points from 9-7 in the super tie-break.
"It was a close match. We had two match points. One on their serve, and I had one on my own. We could not convert, and it was a tough loss for us. It was overall a good tournament for us. I will take it in the right spirit and keep working hard," said Ramkumar.
Ramkumar said that he would be flying straight to London for the ATP University course for Division-1 players.
Meanwhile, Karman Kaur Thandi won her first qualifying round 6-4, 6-4 against Kwan Yau Ng of Hong Kong in the $125,000 WTA tournament in Chinese Taipei. She will play Yuxuan Zhang of China in the second and final qualifying round, to join compatriot Ankita Raina in the main draw.
Karman will be playing doubles in partnership with Ankita Raina, who has been drawn to play fifth seed Nao Hibino of Japan in the first round of singles.
