World number one Novak Djokovic cruised into the Shanghai Masters semi-finals after defeating Bernard Tomic in straight sets on Friday. The Serbian was forced to battle past the Australian to clinch the thrilling opening set before he eventually claimed a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 win over Tomic. Earlier, Rafael Nadal’s Asian swing gained further momentum as he whipped a flagging Stan Wawrinka in straight sets to reach the semi-finals.
Djokovic will next face second-ranked Andy Murray for a berth in the summit clash, while Nadal is gearing up to play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the last four.
