The climax did not pan out the way he wanted, as Sasi Kumar Mukund was beaten in both the singles and doubles finals of the $54,160 Challenger tennis tournament in Baotou, China, on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Mukund, ranked 285 in the world, was beaten by the top seed James Duckworth of Australia 6-4, 6-3 in the singles final.
While Mukund collected 48 ATP points and $4,240, the champion pocketed 80 points and $7,200.
In the doubles final, Mukund in partnership with Teymuraz Gabashvili of Russia was beaten by the second seeded Koreans, Nam Ji Sung and Song Min-Kyu 7-6(3), 6-2.
Mukund and partner collected 48 points and $1,800. The champion team won 80 points and $3,100.
