Feliciano and Marc Lopez of Spain won the French Open men's doubles title at Roland Garros on Saturday defeating Bob and Mike Bryan 6-4, 6-7 (6/8), 6-3 in the final. They lost in the second round of the Australian Open earlier this year. The Bryans were looking to win a 17th Grand Slam title, improving on the all-time best total they set in winning the 2015 US Open.

An early break in the first set was all the Lopez pairing needed to edge ahead, and the second set went with serve to set up a tie-break which the Bryan twins won 8/6, saving a match point on the way. The Spanish pair then broke in the eighth game of the decider and Feliciano Lopez served out to love for the win.

The victory completed a fine day for Spanish tennis as it came on the Philippe Chatrier centre court in the aftermath of Garbine Muguruza's maiden Grand Slam title win over Serena Williams.

Earlier this year the Australian Open men's doubles title went to Jamie Murray of Britain and Brazilian Bruno Soares.
