Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian completed a memorable double, winning the singles title in the NS Sports Academy $25,000 Pune Open ITF women’s championships at the MSLTA School of Tennis, Balewadi on Saturday.

In a well contested final the No. 2 seed here, Jaqueline stopped the winning streak of India’s Karman Kaur Thandi 6-3, 1-6, 6-0 in an hour and 48 minute tussle. Jaqueline received $3,900 and 60 WTA points and Karman Kaur $2,590 and 36 WTA points.

The prizes were given away by IPS officer (Retd.) Vikram Bokey and Kothrud MLA Prof. Medha, Kulkarni, Sunder Iyer, Secretary, MSLTA, Navnath Shete, Tournament Diretor and Ashwin Girme, Organising Secretary Pune Open.

Jayesh Pungaliya and Siddanth Banthia made full use of their qualifying round wildcards by advancing to the second round of the qualifiers in the fourth edition of the $50,000 Hospitality KPIT MSLTA ATP Challenger organized by MSLTA and PMDTA at the MSLTA School of Tennis Complex at Mhalunge-Balewadi on Saturday.

The 17-year-old Banthia outplayed Siddharth Vishwakarma 7-6, 6-1 while Pungliya got the better of Suresh Dhakshineswar 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
