Ramkumar Ramanathan beat Christopher Eubanks of the US 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to make it to the second and final qualifying round of the $600,345 ATP Tour event on grass in Newport.
The 22-year-old Ramkumar, ranked 168 was scheduled to face Matthew Ebden of the Australia for a berth in the main draw.
In the $60,000 ITF women’s event in Turkey, Ankita Raina had a fortuitous entry into the second round, as her opponent retired after three games. Ankita was joined in the main draw by Kyra Shroff, who negotiated three rounds in the qualifying event, and won her pre-quarterfinals of doubles comfortably with Daiana Nagreanu of Romania.
